FALL PLANT SALE
Public Sale Saturday, October 17, 12 noon to 5 pm and Sunday, October 18, 9 am to 3 pm
KEY TO THE CODES AT END OF THE PLANT DESCRIPTIONS:
H* - attracts Hummingbirds
B* - attracts Butterflies or feeds butterfly larvae
W* - Water efficient/drought tolerant plants
C* - California native plant or derivative
F* - especially good cut Flower or cut Foliage
S* - fragrant flowers ("S" for Scented)

Calystegia macrostegia 'Anacapa Pink', "ISLAND MORNING-GLORY" - Fast-growing, twining vine native
to Channel Islands w/ shiny green, arrow-shaped leaves & 3-in. pink, funnel-shaped flowers over long
spring/summer season. [10] (C*W*)
Clematis ligusticifolia, "VIRGIN'S BOWER" - Choice, Calif. native vine with dainty, divided leaves & billowy
masses of fragrant, creamy-white flowers in spring; shade root zone, top w/ some sun. [11] (C*S*)
Distictis 'Rivers', "ROYAL TRUMPET VINE" - Vigorous, fast-growing vine climbing by tendrils; glossy green
leaves & clusters of 5-in., velvety, trumpet-shaped flowers purple w/ orange throats produced over long
season; hummingbird favorite. [15] (H*)
Ephedra tweediana, "COLA DE CABALLO" - Weird, leafless, vining shrub forming a haystack-like mound
(unsupported) or column of slender, pendulous ,green stems & small, yellow, flower-like cones in spring. [12]
Hardenbergia violacea 'Happy Wanderer', "LILAC VINE" - Choice Australian vine w/ wiry, twining stems,
leathery, undivided leaves & long clusters of tiny, rose purple, sweetpea-shaped flowers w/ a chartreuse dot
in late winter/early spring. [20] (W*)
Hylocereus undatus, "QUEEN-OF-THE-NIGHT" - Climbing cactus w/ 3-angled, self-adhering stems &
mammoth (to 1.5 ft. long!) white flowers, that open in summer about 8 p.m. & can form delicious magenta-red
"dragon fruit." [16/12]
Mandevilla laxa, "CHILEAN JASMINE" - Heat-loving, deciduous, twining vine w/ dark green, pointed leaves
& clusters of 2-in. trumpet shaped, glistening white flowers w/ powerful gardenia fragrance. [15] (S*)
Mascagnia macroptera, "YELLOW ORCHID VINE" - Heat-loving, evergreen, twining vine w/ bright green,
oval leaves & showy clusters of yellow, orchid-like flowers spring to fall, followed by interesting, yellow-green,
winged fruits. [25] (B*W*)
Muehlenbeckia complexa, "WIRE VINE" - Vigorous, twining vine or groundcover w/ dainty appearance; thin,
wiry, near-black stems & tiny, rounded, light green leaves; flowers inconspicuous. [16]
Passiflora citrina, "YELLOW PASSIONVINE" - Tame-growing passion vine w/ slender stems lined w/ dark
green, two-lobed leaves & distinctive, starry, bright yellow, bell-shaped flowers in summer/fall; supports
butterfly larvae. [10] (H*B*)
Passiflora 'Coral Glow', "PASSIONFLOWER" - Vigorous vine climbing by tendrils; dark green, shiny green,
3-lobed leaves & distinctive, 4-in., bright coral pink flowers from summer to fall; butterfly favorite. [25] (H*B*)
Passiflora 'Quasar', "QUASAR PASSIONVINE" - Moderately vigorous passion vine w/ dark green, lobed
leaves & abundantly produced, distinctive flowers w/ pure white petals & white filiments; not tested as butterfly
larval food. [12] (H*)
Senecio confusus 'São Paolo', "MEXICAN FLAME VINE" - Heat-loving, twining vine w/ succulent, toothed
leaves & clusters of fragrant, dark orange-red daisy flowers w/ golden centers over long summer/fall season.

Thunbergia alata 'Sunlady', "BLACK-EYED SUSAN VINE" - Vigorous, fast-growing, twining vine w/
triangular, light green leaves & bright yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers w/ near-black throat produced over much
of year. [20] (H*)
Tropaeolum tricolor, "TRICOLOR NASTURTIUM" - Rare, summer dormant vine from Chile w/ thread-like
stems, tiny, hand-shaped leaves & dainty red, yellow & purple, tubular flowers; hummingbird favorite; best in
containers; summer dry. [20] (H*W*)
